Drive Systems and Integrated Vehicle Control
All 2026 Mazda CX-70 models use i-ACTIV all-wheel drive. This system distributes torque based on wheel slip, engine demand, and traction conditions. Mazda Intelligent Drive Select provides multiple settings. Standard PT models include Sport and Off Road. High PT models add towing. PHEV models include Sport, Off Road, and EV. Each mode adjusts throttle mapping, AWD torque bias, and transmission scheduling to match the selected situation. Kinematic Posture Control improves stability by applying light brake force to the inside rear wheel during cornering. Hill Launch Assist supports movement from a stationary position on an incline. Hill Descent Control is also present on specific models and maintains steady movement on downward grades.
Towing capability varies based on the configuration. Most gas models support up to 5000 pounds when properly equipped, and the standard PHEV and standard PT Preferred models support up to 3500 pounds. Trailer Stability Control is part of the integrated safety and driveline management systems. This function reduces trailer sway by adjusting engine power and individual wheel braking.
Exterior Engineering and Functional Components
Exterior construction follows a unified approach. Wheel options include 21-inch aluminum alloy wheels on gas models with either a Black Metal finish or a Machine Cut finish depending on trim. PHEV versions use 19-inch aluminum alloy wheels with a Gray Metallic finish. Tire sizing is consistent at 275 45 R21 on gas models and 265 55 R19 on the plug-in hybrid.
Lighting uses full LED assemblies. This includes LED headlights with auto leveling, LED daytime running lamps, and LED taillights. Higher trims include the Adaptive Front Lighting System. Rain-sensing windshield wipers and an available windshield wiper de-icer improve operational visibility in varying conditions. Exterior mirrors include heating across all trims and automatic power folding, memory settings, tilt in reverse, and auto dimming on specific higher trims.
The 2026 Mazda CX-70 incorporates a roof-mounted shark fin antenna, privacy glass on all rear windows, and a rear roof spoiler. Exterior garnish varies by series, with black, piano black, or body-color moldings depending on trim. A power rear liftgate with programmable height adjustment is included. Hands-free liftgate operation appears on select gas trims. A power panoramic sunroof is available on upper gas configurations, and a standard sunroof is equipped on additional trims.
Interior Functionality and Material Specifications
The interior layout supports a five-passenger configuration. Seating materials vary by trim and include leatherette, leather in Black or Greige, Nappa leather in Black or Red, or quilted Nappa leather in Tan on the High PT Premium Plus. Front seating uses either manual or eight-way power adjustment. Many trims include driver lumbar support and two-position memory. Ventilated front seats and heated second-row seats are available on selected trims. Tri-zone automatic climate control is standard.
Interior illumination includes LED map lights, LED glove box lighting, front foot lamps, and, in higher trims, additional rear foot lamps and indirect door trim lighting. Storage components include cargo area storage boxes, under-floor storage, bottle holders, cup holders, and dual vanity mirrors with illumination. A retractable second-row sunshade is included in several trims. The rear power windows include one-touch auto down, and the power window switch illumination is standard.
The 2026 Mazda CX-70 includes a 12.3-inch full-color center display and either a 7-inch or fully digital 12.3-inch meter display depending on trim. Active Driving Display is installed on higher packages and provides visual information on the windshield. Infotainment functions include Bluetooth® audio and phone capability, voice command, HD Radio, and Type C USB ports on gas models or Type A USB ports on PHEV variants. Navigation is available in specific trims. Audio systems range from an eight-speaker configuration to a Bose 12-speaker sound system. Mazda Connected Services supplies remote engine start, remote door functions, emergency notification, hazard light activation, vehicle status reports, and other related connected features.
Safety Structure and Driver Assistance Systems
Safety systems are extensive and consistent. All models include frontal, knee, curtain, and side impact airbags along with three-point seatbelts for all positions and front and rear seatbelt pretensioners with load limiters. Blind Spot Monitoring, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Lane Departure Warning System, Lane Keep Assist, Smart Brake Support, Driver Attention Alert, and Rear Seat Alert are part of the standard systems. The Rear View Monitor uses either static or dynamic guidelines depending on trim. Vehicle Exit Warning is present across the lineup.
Additional features available on higher trims include Cruising and Traffic Support, Emergency Lane Keeping with Blind Spot Assist and Road Keep Assist, Head-on Traffic Avoidance Assist, Smart Brake Support Rear with pedestrian detection, Smart Brake Support Front Crossing, Smart Brake Support Turn Across Traffic, and Driver Monitoring. Parking sensors are installed in front and rear positions in most versions. Secondary Collision Reduction technology is present on selected trims and reduces the risk of continued vehicle movement after an initial event.
